The Katana was the faithful samurai sword forged with an ancient technique and tempered in the blood of a thousand battles to defend the honor of those who wore it. It was worn on the belt (obi) with the edge facing upwards, so that it could be quickly unsheathed with skillful movements and that in no way could the blade edge be damaged.
The weapon was usually carried by members of the warrior class, along with the wakizashi, a second, shorter saber. Wearing a Katana was a symbol of power and respect for Samurai from all over Japan.
